Dave D’Amore
Father, husband, drummer, educator and multi-instrumentalist – Dedicated to helping others find their rhythm
1995
At 8 years old, I was tapping on every surface I could find, sparking an early fascination with rhythm and sound.
By age 11, I got my first drum kit – a defining moment that set me on a path of musical discovery and dedication behind the kit.
2001-2013
From age 14 and through my teens and twenties, I performed in bands across Melbourne’s vibrant live rock and metal scene.
From local pubs to iconic venues, I shared stages with some of Australia's top heavy acts – experiences that shaped by craft and versatility as a drummer.
2014
I relocated to tropical Cairns, Queensland, inspired by its vibrant community and stunning surroundings.
The move inspired fresh collaborations, projects, and the foundations of what would become my drum school.
2019–PRESENT
I launched my drum school to help drummers of all levels develop solid technique, musicality, and confidence– from their first pair of sticks to their first gig.
That same year, I proudly partnered with Australian brand
Rech Cymbals, contributing to the creation of the
Inferno Synergy,
Raw, and
Sand series.
2020–PRESENT
I began collaborating with award-winning vocalist Abi Muir as drummer and songwriter, co-producing a 5-track EP that achieved international recognition:
- “Stockholm” – Grand Prize Winner, 2021 John Lennon International Songwriting Competition (Rock category).
- “Forgot About Me” – Top 10 Semi-finalist, 2022 Road to Nashville International Songwriting Competition.
- 2022 Passport to Airlie Competition Winner – Main stage performance at Airlie Beach Festival of Music.
- “Still The Same” – Finalist, 2022 Queensland Music Awards.
Since then, our partnership has continued to evolve as I perform as Abi’s live drummer — including a main-stage performance at Be Social Fest (2025) in Cairns, sharing the bill with Matt Corby, Bliss n Eso, Baauer (USA), Petit Biscuit (FRA), and Karnivool.
2023–PRESENT
I founded Darkshore with vocalist and guitarist Owen Jacob (formerly of Kingsman, UK).
Blending heavy, alternative, and progressive influences, Darkshore embraces creative boundaries with intricate rhythms and evocative songwriting. Beyond drums, I contribute to songwriting and recording for bass and rhythm guitar to shape our sound.
Our singles
“Hopeless” and
“The Cost” are streaming on all major platforms.
Alongside drumming, I've worked as a strength, conditioning, and mobility coach for over 15 years.
I own and run Shoshin Movement Studio in Cairns, Australia, founded in 2014, where we help people develop physical skills through calisthenics, strength, flexibility, and movement-based training.
This background allows me to help drummers play with efficiency, balance, and longevity – merging movement science with the art of drumming to teach correct ergonomics, injury-free playing, and long-term success behind the kit.
